Presentation by Jane Stark, “From the Boot to America”
WE CAME TO AMERICA, FROM THE BOOT TO THE FARMLANDS REFLECTIONS OF A GOLDEN ERA.
Jane Stark, Executive Director of the Sam Azeez Museum of Woodbine Heritage will speak about the great wave of immigration at the end of the 19th century that enabled tens of thousands of immigrants to enter the “promised land” of America where the “streets were paved in gold.”
A proud American of Italian, Irish and Jewish heritage, Stark is uniquely aware of the hardships and the joy experienced by our ancestors as they forged out a new life in a new land.
Our unique location in southern New Jersey became a haven for Italians, Jews and other ethnic groups who flourished through blood, sweat and tears.
